Favorite Sites 

Yes, I'm online a lot.  That means I come across some great sites of all types during my time.  The following list are some of my favorite to share with friends.  There is a little bit of everything mixed in here to pick from.  I keep an eye on the page regularly to remove bad links and add new things.  Email though if any of the links don't work. 

The only thing you won't find here are links to sites about computers, software, and the internet itself.  Those are all in my Computer Help section.

    Very cool optical illusions site
     
  • All Recipes
    One of the best recipe sites online.  Free to join to save recipes you like, lots of printing options, every type of recipe imaginable.
     
  • Amazon.com
    The best place to shop online!  They have just about everything.
     
  • Box Tops for Education
     
  • Child & Adolescent Bipolar Foundation 
    Wonderful resource for parents, caregivers, or teachers of children with Bipolar.  A wealth of information.   resource!
     
  • Common Sense Media
    Helpful for parents to read reviews of movies, music, etc. to see if it's ok for your kids to watch
     
  • Digital Cameras - what to look for
    Very informative about what different specs to look for when buying a digital camera
     
  • Digital Scrapbook Place
    Instead of using all that paper to make scrapbooks, this site teaches you how to make them on the computer and have digital scrapbooks.

    This is the best online auction site.  You can buy and sell anything almost

    You have to watch this - it's funny and true!

  • Found Art
    Great community project to share your own art
     
  • Freecycle
    Freecycle is a grass roots movement to help keep things out of landfills by giving them away free to other community members.  You sign up for your local group and other members post things they are offering for free, you just reply to them if you want to pick it up.  Everything must be FREE!  I run the local St. Charles group by the way.
     
  • Glossarist
    Searchable directory of glossaries and topical dictionaries
     
  • Google
    This is without a doubt, the best search engine online.  They also have a lot of other tools you can use as well.
     
  • Google Maps
    Much better than other map sites in my opinion
     
  • Let Them Sing It For You
    Type in whatever you like and hit play.
     
  • Let There Be Lights
    This is a Windows Movie - you will need Windows Media Player to be able to view it. Very cool - make sure to watch the entire thing!
     
  • MedInfoSource
    Links to resources for all types of health issues
     
  • Michael Bach's Optical Illusions & Visual Phenomena
    Another very cool page of optical illusions
     
  • Money Origami
    Learn to fold paper currency into things like boots, a butterfly, a shirt, valentine and more.
     
  • National Alliance for the Mentally Ill
    If you, or anyone you know, suffer from any form of mental illness including depression, bipolar, anxiety, etc. this is an excellent resource site.
     
  • National Weather Service Doppler Radar
    Get US and local doppler radars and your local forecast.  No ads like they have on all the other commercial weather websites.

    Fun games to play for free
     
  • Paper Snowflakes
    Remember cutting out snowflakes from paper?  Try this digital version.
     
  • Paper Toys
    Great site for kids.  You just print, cut, fold and glue to make all sorts of toys.  Lots of things for boys and girls. Free!
     
  • PopCap Games
    Another great game site.  Most of the games you can play free versions of online plus they have deluxe versions which you can purchase.  Zuma is my personal favorite.

    Information from the government on preparing for emergencies
     
  • Silly Puns
    Up for a giggle or a groan?
     
  • SweepSheet
    Excellent newsletter for sweepstakes and contests to enter.  If you subscribe, let them know I referred you!
     
  • USGS Earthquakes
    See where the latest earthquakes in the USA have been and details about each quake
     
  • USPS Zip Code Finder
    Lookup zip codes from the post office
     
  • Where's George
    Track money as it travels across the country.  You can put in which bills you have and track them.  Taylor and I have been doing this for a couple of years now.
     
  • ZoomQuilt
    You just have to see this!  Wait for the page to load fully, then follow the instructions.  It is very cool!
